Analog Devices, Inc.  — Supported major releases for the Embedded DSP family of products and VisualDSP++ Tools. Acted as PM for development of 1000-page TigerSHARC Hardware Specification, which entails creation of an Internet-accessed database of all specifications, working with over 30 Design Engineers, creating all illustrations, and coordinating the review process. TigerSHARC multiprocessors support third-generation mobile communications systems (3G). Created illustrations using Adobe Illustrator for Blackfin documentation. Created three versions of the TigerSHARC data sheet. Revised two VisualDSP++ manuals for 16-bit processors for Rel. 3.5. Conducted review process and revised 900 +-pages SHARC DSP Hardware Reference. The effort involved working with a review team of 30 product managers, software designers, application and product engineers to re-organize critical chapters and create new chapters/segments to introduce new features and functionality. Created four SHARC technical data sheets. Prepared structured documents using FrameMaker + SGML Rel. 6.0 and Rel 7.1. Developed Help/HTML systems for Assembler error and warning messages using RoboHelp. Designed and developed Blackfin (ADSP-BF533) 16/32-bit processor product marketing and sales literature. Blackfin architecture combines the audio processing capabilities of DSPs and media processors and integrates WiFi and 10/100 Ethernet, security keys, and software into one low-cost module. Blackfin processors are used in such applications as digital cameras, portable media players, data/media gateways, and IP set-top boxes.

Mapletree Networks, Inc. —Developing and implementing a complete documentation plan for Mapletree Networks. This involves determining content, establishing and implementing cross-departmental processes, and creating all technical customer documentation for Mapletree’s packet-based voice, data and fax network access and core network infrastructure equipment for OEMs. Technical customer documentation includes release documentation, implementation guides/application notes, and UniPorte Architecture^TM  Software Developer’s Guide. Providing marketing support for new product development, including writing a preliminary technical specification. All documentation is prepared using FrameMaker 6.0, Adobe Acrobat 4.0, MS-Word, and Canvas 7.0.

Analog Devices, Inc. — Supported major releases of the DSP family of products including 32-bit ADSP-21161N (Low Cost HammerHead) and TigerSHARC, and the 16-bit ADSP-2192 by providing Instruction Set Specifications, DSP Hardware Specifications , and technical data sheets representing over 2400 pages of text. Worked with international design teams in India, Israel, and U.S. to prepare documentation using FrameMaker 5.5 and Canvas 5.0 and 6.0.

Quickturn Design Systems, Inc. —Developed SpeedSim/MegaSim 3.1 documents, including release notes, SpeedSim User Guide, and SpeedSim Reference Guide. Designed Quickstart concept for PowerSuite/Radium and CoBALT release 1.0. Marketing responsibilities included designing and writing MegaSim and Radium datasheets, developing the PowerSuite technical FAQ, completing PowerSuite/Radium press release and advertising copy templates, and preparing for DATE conference. Business Process Reengineering (BPR) initiatives included: participating in the Ease of Use project, examining the Quickturn business model and recommending business process changes, designing and developing the Quickturn (Sales) Solver using MA-Excel. Developed and presented two-hour writing workshop geared to the engineering staff.

Analog Devices, Inc. — Developed ADSP-21mod870-EVI Evaluation System Users’ Guide to document the evaluation board (hardware), software used to test the RAS modems, and Application Programmers Interface for the ADSP-21mod870 modems. Worked closely with RAS development team to create the ADSP-21mod870-500-510 Dual Data Pump Processor API Guide for the ADSP-21mod870-510 (16-bit) modem with its programmable serial port during three software releases. The API guide included Voice-over-Internet-Processing (VoIP), Fax and Fax over IP (FoIP), and ISDN support. Provided documentation support for the 870- and 970-series RAS modems by generating technical data sheets. Used Adobe FrameMaker release 5.1, Deneba System’s Canvas release 5, and Adobe Distiller to create documentation in printed and PDF formats.

Novera Software, Inc. — Revised two manuals (Developing Business Objects and Using Mainframe Access Constructor) for Beta releases and the final release of the Novera jBusiness product suite using FrameMaker. Developed tutorial for the Business Object Constructor. Provided documentation in PDF format using Adobe Distiller. Prepared formal release notes during Beta 2 release phase ( HTML format).

Indus River Networks, Inc. — Designed and developed on-line help system for combination (NT) server and client Virtual Private Network (VPN) system, using RoboHelp and WinHelp. Provided support for GUI design, documentation set design, and testing. Designed and wrote RiverPilot on-line help system, including context-sensitive help. Researched and prepared release notes, using FrameMaker and exported to PDF format.

Sitara Networks, Inc. — Designed and developed on-line help system for combination (NT) server and client Web acceleration software, using RoboHelp and WinHelp. Provided support for Web design, testing and content on technical subject matter. Worked with development team to provide GUI design input. Designed and wrote SpeedServer Quick Reference Card using PageMaker. Created templates and exported help text to produce SpeedServer Users Guide, using FrameMaker.

MicroTouch Business Products Division — Provided ongoing documentation support for Engineering and Marketing and Sales departments. Developed and maintained all major and interim software release documentation including: Help files (installation, IbidViewer, and Ibid software), multiple Release Notes, and the Ibid Users Manual. Designed and developed Ibid product demonstration using DemoShield software. This continuously-running demonstration was introduced into all CompUSA, MicroCenter, Staples, and OfficeMax sites. Developed manufacturing procedures for the Ibid Whiteboard production line, which covered raw material inspection-through-shipping procedures. Created the Ibid Controller Reference Guide for the Ibid Whiteboard controller. Revised collateral pieces and provided input on carton design. Provided editorial support for white paper preparation. Designed new GUI for conferencing functions.

Advanced Visual Data, Inc. — Wrote Beta release notes, created and wrote Quick Reference Guide using Adobe PageMaker, designed and developed multimedia demonstration for AVD’s NetCracker Designer using DemoShield, and developed tutorial. Acted as documentation consultant since early 1996.

ADP-ISS — Prepare HTML help files to accompany Beta release of NewsPartner Web software. Text for the Help system was drafted using Microsoft Word’s HTML plug-in.

NuMega Technologies, Inc. — Coordinated all documentation efforts for the BoundsChecker 5.0, advanced error detection software for Visual C++ and Delphi developers. Developed 5.0 release documentation strategy, created project planning documents, and determined and assigned documentation tasks. Designed and implemented tutorial, prepared and revised help documentation for BoundsChecker 4.2 using RoboHELP 95, revised general document set using PageMaker and FrameMaker, performed general Quality Assurance support including testing product prior to release, and prepared Release Notes.

Digital Equipment Corporation — Developed a training program to complement the Open Development Environment (ODE) technical training module for all Digital UNIX developers. Course content included a review of Project Lifecycle models and instruction in drafting project documentation. Three deliverables were associated with this project: the Overview training (slides and manual), an ODE-II Command Quick Reference Card, and Pilot Presentation. Tools used included: PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, and HoTMetaL.

Paragon Imaging, Inc. — Revised nine manuals: ELT/1000, /2000, /2500 imageVIEWER, /3000, /6000, and /7000, desktopPRESENTS, imageXCHANGE and desktopCHATTER Installation and User Guides. Wrote desktopPRESENTS Installation Guide, developed imageQUERY and ELT/7000 tutorials and wrote imageQUERY User Guide. Designed new desktopCHATTER Quick Reference Guide (hot card) using FrameMaker on Macintosh. Designed posters using Adobe PhotoShop for trade show. Created all marketing materials for Annual Users’ Group Conference. Coordinated printing: prepared specifications, acquired bids for printing, prepared PostScript files, and proofed copy. Assignments required an in-depth understanding of Paragon Imaging’s UNIX-based suite of products. Designed and programmed Web pages.

BayBanks Credit Card Operations — Drafted Credit Card Operations procedures by defining the content/format and scope of the department’s Operations Guide, working from existing notes, revising materials, interviewing representatives throughout Operations and Security, drafting new procedures, and implementing improved methods.

Limbic Systems, Inc. — Worked with a start-up company to develop the Beta documentation, tutorial, data sheet, and on-line help files using SDK for a personnel scheduling program using MS-Word for Windows.

Logica Data Architects — Developed functional specifications, design specifications, and user documentation for AMATPS and EADAS applications using Interleaf on a DOS system.

Fidelity Investments (Fidelity Processing Group) — Developed project proposal and presentations for senior management. Designed and implemented fact-gathering methodology. Conducted Design Focus Groups. Coordinated development of over 200 policies including designing, researching, interviewing, writing, and editing policy documentation. Managed a 3-person team. Conducted weekly Legal, Compliance, and Operations Policy Review meetings. Developed manual and on-line distribution system for policy/job aids documentation using Interleaf and WorldView. Developed preliminary training materials and plan for pilot.

Intermetrics — Developed the instructional materials for two training programs and the reference manual for the Electronic Specifications System (ESS) using Interleaf on a UNIX system. ESS is used by DELCO engineers designing automotive and electronic parts for automobiles.

Digital Equipment Corporation — Drafted the Quotron Service Router-Installation and Use manual that describes the New Quotron Network, the SFAN software used to enable backward compatibility with Citicorp's existing network, software installation procedures, configuration of the CT1 card, and network management.

CenterLine Software, Inc. — Wrote and edited two evaluation guides for the UNIX programming environment. CodeCenter and ObjectCenter products are used for writing, understanding, and maintaining C and C++ programs. Edited ViewCenter User's Guide and Object Interface Programmer's Guide.

July 1990 to January 1992

Proposed, developed, drafted, and implemented the Screen and Report Design Style Guide used by Boston Technology and OEM software engineers to design software applications. Designed all screens and reports for an automated attendant product. Worked with technical trainers to design training and create aids. Wrote 500 of the 900 page CO ACCESS Release 6.1 documentation using Interleaf on a SPARCstation.

Managed staff, and scheduled and coordinated all hardware and software documentation projects. Implemented software development project tracking system using Q&A software. Wrote manuals, addenda, and errata documentation for ISDN LAN Bridge, HDMS Data Journal software, and MNP modems. Directed all U.S. and offshore printing efforts. Prepared all documentation and management reporting using Microsoft Word on MACs and PCs.

Provided technical and developmental training and course development, technical writing (systems, operations, software, and hardware documentation), marketing, public relations, and graphical design services. Applications included: sales/commissions reporting, endowment processing, IBM AS/400 file transfer/management systems, fund-raising collateral, EFT corporate policies and installation procedures, mortgage floor plan processing, and toll collections. Responsibilities included completing research on new technologies, preparing needs analyses, and presenting findings to senior management. Coordinated the General Design Document (GDD) team activities for the Mutual Fund project.
